About Us

November 1997

Journey Begins

Our founder began providing mortgage education and support services to displaced residents as a result of the Atlanta, Georgia expansion of the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. 1000 residents benefited as they transitioned from renters to owners.

March 1999

Community Mortgage Education

Partnered with members of the non-profit mortgage education community to provide a process to transition renters to responsible buyers who were fully prepared for homeownership.

January 2002

Mortgage School Founded

We focused on training and compliance activities and best practices primarily targeted to new entrants in mortgage loan origination and mortgage loan processing. Our school was founded on a real-world career preparation formula coupled with affordable alternatives for students.

December 2007

Mortgage Education Enhancements

We extended our education offerings to include state required pre-license and continuing education courses. The subprime mortgage crisis and new fair lending laws began moving the residential mortgage industry to require a more educated mortgage professional.

July 2008

SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act

The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) was signed into law. It was designed to enhance consumer protections by setting minimum standards for licensing and registration of state licensed mortgage loan originators. Education and testing standards were mandated and Ameritrain was among the first mortgage education providers in the nation to be certified by the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) to offer required pre-license education.

October 2009

TDR Introduced

Ameritrain introduced our Training, Development and Resource (TDR) methodology to assist students with national and state-specific exam preparation. This learning strategy enables Ameritrain to customize course content to meet individual learning styles within a defined structure allowing for more effective direction of instructional methods focused on key topics, testing techniques and exam strategies.

FAQs

We’re here to help! Below are some frequently asked questions.

How long has Ameritrain been in business?

Ameritrain was established in 2002 with the sole purpose of providing quality mortgage education.

What course formats does Ameritrain offer?

We offer live, online, and webinar courses, primarily to the residential mortgage industry, to ensure we are able to meet the varied learning styles of our students.

Do I need a special user ID and password?

Ameritrain uses your email address as your username. Your password should be something that you can remember.

Why do I need to create a Biometric signature on some courses and not others?

NMLS requires a biometric signature on specific types of courses. This is a standard for all course providers governed by NMLS requirements. If you experience a biometric signature issue, you may contact us at support@ameritrain.com or visit the NMLS Student Authentication Support.

Is my exam saved if I'm in the middle of an exam and lose my internet connection, or my computer freezes, or I have to reboot my computer?

Unfortunately, a test or quiz is saved only when it has been completed. If a test is timed out for inactivity or there is a connection failure, then you will need to retake the test from the beginning.

How do I request a refund?

Please send an email to support@ameritrain.com to request your refund. All refund requests must be made in writing.

Do I have to pass a final exam before exiting a NMLS-approved course?

Yes. You will need to pass a final exam before completing an online NMLS course. If you fail the exam, then you will have an opportunity to retake it as many times as needed to achieve a passing score. If you need assistance, please contact us for support.

My course is listed as "NEW". What does that mean?

A new status means that you have not started the course. Once you enter the course the status will change to active and is available for access.

What should I do if I have an issue with my Biometric signature?

You may watch this video to help you create your biometric signature. If you continue to experience an issue, you may contact us at support@ameritrain.com or visit the NMLS Student Authentication Support

Besides NMLS courses, what other resources does Ameritrain offer?

Ameritrain offers a wide range of resources to support advanced learning and personal edification of our students and clients. We offer stand-alone tests that simulate the NMLS test format; eBooks with a high level of interactivity; specific state exam prep courses and materials; cram courses that consolidates a comprehensive course content; and summary guides for more complex subjects.

What happens if I do not remember my username or my password?

Your username is your email address. If you are unable to remember your email address you may contact our Ameritrain support line at (877) 406-0333 and one of our client services advisers will assist you. If you have forgotten your password, click on the 'Forgot password' link and your password will be sent to the email on record.

What if I make a purchase and I don't receive an email notification?

An email notification is sent automatically once you have completed your purchase. The notification may have gone to your email spam folder. Please review your spam folder. If the notification is not there, then contact us at support@ameritrain.com or call (877) 406-0333 for further assistance.

Do I need special computer technology to view an online course?

We support Mac- and Window-based computers. The browsers we support include: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer (Edge) and Safari

How are quizzes and tests structured?

Our quizzes and tests simulate the NMLS testing format where one question is available at a time. Correct answers have attached comments to help reinforce your learning. Once a test is completed, it is instantly graded. If organized in defined NMLS-approved testing categories, test results sections are displayed to help student gauge their performance in each testing area. If a student fails a test, it is immediately available for a retake.

Can I retake a quiz or test that I have already passed?

Quizzes are available for viewing after passing; however, tests are not available once you receive a passing score. Each test is available for printing, studying, and reviewing.

Once I have passed an end of course exam or a standalone test, will I be able to retake it after I have passed it?

Once you have passed a test, it is not available for retake; however, it is available for viewing and printing.

How can I receive a copy of my completion certificate?

After successfully completing a course, you can return to your account to view and/or print your completion certificate. Visit My Learning and select My Certificates.

If I have questions about a course, quiz, or test who do I contact?

Our student advisers and instructors are available to provide support with any questions you may have. Contact your instructor directly for online instructor led courses. For all other course related or general questions, email support@ameritrain.com or call 877-406-0777 for assistance.

If I have placed an order for shipping, how can I verify that the order has been shipped? Is there tracking information?

Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an email that will contain your tracking/confirmation number. Please log on to USPS.com to obtain location information.

What happens if my computer freezes in the middle of taking a course?

The course has most likely timed out. NMLS requires education providers conform to mandatory time out requirements after a period of inactivity. Another reason could be a lost internet connection. You will need to re-enter the course to continue.

What happens if I walk away from my computer and when I return the course is gone from my computer screen?

What is a product as it relates to the Ameritrain website?

NMLS does not allow a self-paced format for pre-license courses. All online pre-license course formats must be managed by an instructor.

What happens if I fail to complete an online course? Will I lose my money?

If a student fails to complete the course during the allotted time there will be a complimentary reschedule to the next available class of the student's choice. If the student fails to complete the course on the second registration, there will be a 50 percent tuition charged for the third attempt. The fourth attempt will require a full tuition charge.

Do you offer payment plans for your courses?

All course enrollments require prepayment. Payments may be made online or through the assistance of Ameritrain Enrollment Advisors. Payments made by check must be received 5 days prior to the event.

Online test formats are delivered within the ALMS platform which includes questions randomly selected from a pool of hundreds of questions.
